
The following examples demonstrate before and after photos when photo restoration tools have been applied. The AI tools used include Photoshop, Palette FM, Topaz Photo AI, and HitPaw. Not all tools were used on all of the photos. Some of the photos required minor work. Others required much more work, including removing tears and spots and changing colorization (including eye color). Many photos have been colorized, but you can improve the quality without colorizing. However, the currently available AI tools can make a big difference in these attempts. It is also easy to overdo the restoration with colorizing and upscaling, so try some things out and see what works for you. Remember that Photoshop is available in the Reinert Library. The photos below have been greatly reduced in size and resolution for viewing on this platform.

Helen, Irene, Floyd, and Robert Wingate. Floyd Wingate served during WWII as a B-17 gunner. He died during one of the missions in August, 1943.
