BNA stands for Bureau of National Affairs. While not as prominent as West or LexisNexis, BNA is a major publisher of specialize legal research products for the specialized practice. When you access BNA Premier, you will see a long list of research materials by subject including a wide range of Current Awareness Services. These services consist of daily or weekly reports or newsletters that describe major cases, legislation and other significant legal actions within a topic field. If you are interested in a particular area of law but haven't identified a topic yet, BNA Premier's Current Awareness Services are just what you need.
Once you identify a service, establish an account by clicking on "Preferences" at the top of the page. In doing this, you can customize the page. You can choose specific topics within the subject area that you want to track. You can also focus on particular courts and states.
Sign up for email delivery and every day or week (depending on how often the newsletter come out) and the most current newsletter will be delivered to your email. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with an area of law and get ideas to write about.
Law360 provides in depth coverage of developments in 13 practice areas including bankruptcy, competition, employment, environment, health, intellectual property, securities, and technology.
